WEDNESDAYS #6 vs. BIG SLICK:

(vol. 41W, no. 6; newsletter by h.s.)
The Pirates snapped a 7-game skid (Sundays and Wednesdays combined), winning their first game in nearly a month — a squeaker in overtime.

With two regulars out of the line-up including KennyG, Marty went back to support the defensive corps with Gucci, Kevin and Mike. That created an highly effective Miller-Wildman-Gesior line that combined for 8 points on the night.

We led 3-1 at the break, but the Cannibals chipped at our lead during the final frame and tied it up on a backhander by part-time Pirate Tony Toscano with just over 2:00-minutes left. That forced an overtime ... and the tiresome prospect of record-breaking streak for consecutive losses.

Late in the extra 3:00-minute overtime, Miller fed Gesior at the side of the crease who patiently waited and topshelfed the winner with just ten clicks remaining. After the victory, Gucci (who was subbing for the night) put the “I” in “Team”: “You see?! I was here. We won. It was me.”

The win puts us at .500 (3-3-0) with two games remaining in the regular season.
