SUNDAYS #9 vs. JAGUARS:

(vol. 40W, no. 9; newsletter r.n.)
Pirates and Jags played a fun, fast-paced affair on Sunday. On any other night Glenn Farkas would have been the number one star for some really great hustle and heads up play, but Harris stole the spotlight with one of those once-a-year saves. The Pirates had totally outplayed the Jags through most of the 1st period, but were thwarted time-after-time by great goaltending and inaccurate shooting. Having finally broken through for two goals in rapid succession the Pirates took the lead but the Jags scored to get within one on a turnover that turned into a breakaway goal. Then the game turned in an instant, just as it seemed it might slip away.

Mike said Scott was “flashing like a billboard” streaking through center ice, so he whipped the puck up the middle looking for the long outlet. It was snagged by a Jag who wheeled and fired from the left circle and Harris simply plucked it. Made it look easy. Game was over because the Pirates as a team realized that we nearly gave this away. From that point on the ice was tilted and the Jags crumbled.

Tonight the keeper saved the game for us and changed the big mo back in our direction. Kevin should have a mention for a pretty backhander that shocked the goalie as it did a job on his water bottle.

Happy Super Bowl, think of me in Fla!!!
