WEDNESDAYS #4 vs. JAGUARS:

(vol. 36W, no. 4; newsletter by b.n.)
The Pirates were up against the Jags again. It seems like we have been up against them a number of times in the last few months and other than an overtime victory in the first round of the playoffs, they seem to have our number.

And so it looked on this night. Other then a late goal at the 2:40-minute mark by Kenny G in the 1st (from Scott Miller), the Pirates couldn't seem to get anything going. The Jags, however, spoiled the moment for us as they answered back on the next shift after capitalizing on a 2-on-0 to knot things up 1-1 at the end of the period.

In the final period? Well, as every good Pirate knows, there is a goalie out there that for whatever reason has Kevin McLaughlin's number. Who that goalie is, is actually hard to say because I don't actually know his name, but I am sure Harris will fill it in for me here __________. (editor's note: I don't know his name either) Anyway, through many, many games he has stoned Kevin. But on this night, Kevin finally prevailed on an unassisted tally which came in handy since the Jags had taken the lead minutes earlier on a powerplay goal. Then something happened. Maybe it was Harris getting hurt by a slapshot or maybe it was Marty getting creamed by Kevin in our zone. Either way, something happened and the onslaught began: Marty rattled off a natural hattrick and even #67 put one in, capping-off five unanswered tallies and putting the game on ice.

See you Monday.
