WEDNESDAYS #4 vs. HOCKY TEEM:

(vol. 33W, no. 4; newsletter by h.s.)
Things began with a good omen when #67, centering the first line, scored on one of the first shifts of the evening. The goal, Brian's first of the season (assisted by S. Miller), came at the 18:00-minute mark moments after a Pirate powerplay expired. That was pretty much it for the good omens. The Hocky Teem would score three unanswered goals before the break, including a back-breaking tally with only :20 seconds remaining in the 1st period.

The final period was hard-fought — and the Pirates managed to stop the bleeding — but our offense wasn't able to find the rhythm needed to penetrate the Hocky “D” or get another by the acrobatic Victor Masino (who was subbing net for the Hockies). By the time final whistle sounded, the Hocky Teem had comfortably handed the Pirates their third loss in four games.

At the halfway point of the season the Pirates have a 1-3 record and are 1-point out of the final Playoff spot. A good second half run will be needed if we're going to make a pitch for the post-season.
