WEDNESDAYS #3 vs. GERIATRICS:

(vol. 5W, no. 3; newsletter by h.s.)
A sweltering night inside the "Allaire Sauna" combined with Dave Kurasz subbing as the Gerrys' goalie, made this game a lot more difficult than it should have been (we can thank Brian Newcomb for hooking Dave up with the
Gerry's captain). The first period was back-and-forth action, but the only goal came on Scott's shot with :06 left to give us the 1-0 lead —and the momentum — going into the first break.

The only goal of the 2nd came when the Gerry's put a rebound in at the 9:00-minute mark to tie things up at 1-1.

Brian Newcomb broke the tie when he capitalized on a feed from Scott to open the 3rd period scoring. Then, Russ converted a pass from BB later in the period to give us a 3-1 lead. Our advantage was reduced to just one goal when the Gerry's scored with about 5:00 minutes remaining on a slapshot. But a fantastic penalty kill late in the 3rd (pretty much a one-man show by BB) kept the Gerry's in their zone. We continued to outhustle them in the final minutes and they were never able to regain possession long enough to attack or pull their goalie. And, just for good measure, Scott added another goal late in the period. Noteable performances: outstanding "D" by Glen (again) and Big Jim (especially when Roger was somewhere at the other end of the rink); Allen for his artistry on winning the faceoffs, and Chris for forcing a bunch of turnovers at center ice (and nearly scoring from center ice on a delayed offsides).

WON 4-2
