SUNDAYS #7 vs. JAGUARS B:

(vol. 5S, no. 7; newsletter by h.s.)
Another game with an extremely short bench (just seven skaters).

Here's the recap: The Jags went up 2-0 in the 1st, scoring their second at the tail-end of a powerplay against Wildman (“and the academy award for 'diving' goes to ... the Jags B!”).

In the 2nd though, we capitalized on a goalie error when he came out to play the puck and inadvertently hit it to a Pirate who would find the open man and then the open net (credit for that goal goes to Chris with the assist to Tim). That made the game 2-1. The Jags regained their 2-goal lead a short time later off another one-timer, but it looked like we would catch a break when we got a powerplay with time dwindling in the 2nd (their goalie lost his stick and froze the puck behind their net); unfortunately, we turned the puck over and Gucci walked in past a group of ice and (seemingly in slow motion) scored the shorthanded goal to end the period with the 4-1 lead.

In the 3rd, Tim got us back into the game when he grabbed the puck in the offensive zone and shot quick to beat their goalie low. That got us back within two goals again, 4-2. The Jags though, would answer back and score twice more to extend their lead to 6-2. With about :90 seconds remaining, though, Scooby shuffled a great pass to Nick who immediately fed Chris cross-ice for a goal to make it 6-3. We played with a lot of pep and — if we had a few better bounces — it could've been much closer (the passing was pretty impressive).

LOST 6-3
